OBASANJO IN MORE PROBLEMS AS APC PROMISE TO REVOLT AFTER STUDYING HIS LETTER

The APC asked to be given the opportunity to study the statement. We shall respond appropriately afterwards,” the party's national publicity secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said in a short message sent to political correspondents.

In the letter, Obasanjo withdrew his support for President Buhari, calling on the president not to seek re-election in 2019.

“Last time, we asked, prayed and worked for change and God granted our request.

This time, we must ask, pray and work for change with unity, security and progress. And God will again grant us," part of the letter read.

He asked Buhari to honourably dismount from the horse and join the league of former leaders whose experience, influence, wisdom and outreach can be deployed on the side line for the good of the country.

The former president stated that he was not excited with the way Buhari, who he supported during the 2015 general elections against Goodluck Jonathan, had handled the country.

He said even Jonathan had come to realise that he made some mistakes and had publicly regretted them.
